I only used one song this time because I was short on storage. However, I upped my space, and it looks like it gave it to me immediately. Oh well. I already created the podcast. Ain't gonna redo it! Note: I'm going to put the bare bones notes here, but I'll put more extensive notes on my blog (ceruleanlobster.blogspot.com) tomorrow evening. I've been working on this for hours! I'm tired. Mon, 30 May 2011
Man, my scheduling ability sucks. I'm going to get better. Also, my audio isn't in stereo. I must be missing some kind of converter. I need to do some more research before I waste money trying to fix it (and inevitably getting the wrong thing). My voice really starts to go toward the middle of the podcast. In this episode: I discuss the movies Priest, Bridesmaids and Hangover 2, Wil Wheaton, Eureka, summer TV start dates, Netflix (The IT Crowd*, Star Trek and silly Syfy movies Music: The Raveonettes, "Forget That You're Young" (Thanks to KEXP) Amanda Mair, "House" (Thanks to AOL) Bell XI, "Hey Anna Lena" (Thanks to WXRT) *I mispronounced Graham Linehan's name. I also didn't realize he also did another one of my favorite shows, Black Books. |
Mon, 4 April 2011
In this episode: I discuss Sucker Punch Marc Maron Ray Bradbury's advice to the young (hey - the advice is great for me, too, so the not-so-young too) Arianna Huffington on "Pay Walls" for new media. Bronx Zoo Cobra's Twitter Warehouse 13 Season 1 DVD The Walking Dead DVD Stargate Atlantis Music: Highlife, "Tuareg Dancehall" (Thanks to KEXP) Wye Oak, "Civilian" (Thanks to KEXP) J Mascis "Not Enough" (Thanks to AOL Spinner) Terri Tarantula, "The Daredevil Way" (Thanks to KEXP) Hooray For Earth, "Surrounded By Your Friends" (Thanks to The Boston Phoenix online paper) Magnolia Electric Co, "Josephine" (Thanks to Pitchfork Media) Lifeguards, "Paradise Is Not So Bad" (Thanks to their label site Serious Business) |

This episode was almost finished last weekend, but then the computer shut off unexpectedly, and...yeah. In this episode I talk about The Adjustment Bureau (great!), Rango (great!), the resurgence of Firefly hope (I wish...) and some other stuff. I also have a new haiku. I feature this music: Devotchka, "100 Lovers" (thanks to KEXP) The War On Drugs, "Comin' Through" (thanks to their label Secretly Canadian) Parts and Labor, "Rest" (thanks to their label Jagjaguwar) Peter Broderick, "Below It", (thanks to his label Hush Records) |

I'm going to get better about keeping a schedule. I've been working on this episode for two weeks. I had to re-record most of it. I'm still getting the hang of Audacity. It's not as intuitive (to me) as my previous software program, but I think once I really understand Audacity, I'll find it to be more flexible. Sometimes with choices comes more of a learning curve.
If you have any questions or feedback, please e-mail it ceruleanlobster@gmail.com *but* please put pop culture in the subject. I have 6,669 messages currently. I'm never going to be able to sift through all the e-mails. Or, you can comment on the Libsyn page or the podcast page.
In this episode: Music: The Radio Department, The New Improved Hypocracy (from KEXP) The Postal Service, "The District Sleeps Tonight" (from Sub Pop) Janelui, "Jailbard" (from Team Clermont) The Solitarians, "The Burdens of Loss" (from the Freemusic archive site) Fabrizio Paterlini "Forever Blue" (from the Freemusic archive site) Matt Longo, "Lulu" (from his Band Camp) Chad VanGaalen, "Clinically Dead" from Sub Pop

Cerulean's Love of Pop Culture is produced, recorded and the misguided idea of Lola Lariscy. Her blog can "<a href="http://redirect2.iodalliance.com/download_track.php?id=9C16373C29682047FC65ACA29AA85C179A363CEBC99FEB06D7524EEBC2BA285B50809435C6350ED4A775DB40709C5C81">Heads Roll Off</a>" (mp3 courtesy of Promonet) <a href="http://redirect2.iodalliance.com/buy_album.php?id=9C16373C29682047FC65ACA29AA85C17A535884286A38408C38F7BB60B097E2BB994A9BD47432A8EDA747AB7EE068873">Rhapso |

Brand new year, brand new podcast. I published Cerulean's Love of Music for four years, and while the blog is still going strong, I decided to do a different kind of podcast. One in which I (help us all) could talk about things that interest me, like TV shows, movies, books, podcast, technology (and once in awhile) politics. This way I won't bug my friends with (as many) ridiculously long and silly Facebook posts. It's like my invisible friend that lets me say whatever I want for as long as I want (well, up to 50 MB. I will eventually get more space). I've already recorded a good bit of the first episode, but I'm not going to be great at controlling how the podcast sounds...yet. I already did quite a bit today. I learned how to move the files around, control the volume...that's a lot on Audacity...no offense to Audacity, but you can't tell just from looking at it how it works. I had to play around with it a bit (and I read the tutorial some). I promise to try to get better, and I promise I will always be entertaining (and perhaps cringe-inducing). The music in this promo is "Echo Mountain" by K's Choice. I got it from AOL Spinner. |
